Owyhigh Lakes trail in Mount Rainier National Park - elevation gain 1600 ft. The trail immediately gets down to the business of climbing, though the grade is never relentlessly steep and the switchbacks are lazy and long.
The first three miles are virtually in forest without significant views, but the forest is so quiet you can almost hear a pine needle fall.
